TIMETABLES AND COURSES<\/h3>\n

Students from 10 to 17 years old<\/strong> do 3 hours of class a week<\/strong>, but they can choose between doing a 3 hour class in one day or a 1 hour and a half class twice a week.
\nAll our courses last 37 weeks<\/strong> (starting on the 17th September and ending on the 21st June).<\/p>\n

OBJECTIVES AND METHODOLOGY<\/h3>\n

Our methodology is based a holistic approach to language learning focusing on communicative learning, as we focus on the students’ listening, oral comprehension, reading and writing skills<\/strong>. All our classrooms are equipped with interactive projectors, which allow our teachers to make the classes more engaging, dynamic and collaborative.<\/p>\n

In Uptown English<\/em> we expect our students to study higher levels than they do in their high school<\/strong>.
\nOur main objective is that before they start university<\/strong>, students pass the FCE<\/strong> (First Certificate in English), so later they can focus on higher levels.<\/p>\n

Every course has a book<\/strong>, which we use to study level appropriate grammatical structures and vocabulary as well as incorporating other resources such as games, audio and video materials<\/strong> based on the students’ needs.<\/p>\n

Our groups are smal<\/strong>l, as the minimum students per class are 4 and the maximum 12, which means that the teacher can offer a much more individual monitoring, and the students can improve their speaking skills more quickly.<\/p>\n

The students spend time working individually but also in pairs or small groups, working together to improve communication skills<\/strong>, always while observed and helped by the teacher.<\/p>\n

Apart from the 3 hours that students are in the school, we provide continuous evaluation<\/strong> as the students will have homework<\/strong> so they can review and reinforce the language they have learnt in class and they will have the chance to go through their work with their teacher. Regularly, short tests and exam<\/strong>s will be done to observe how the students are progressing in their group.<\/p>\n

Throughout the course, families will have the opportunity to have two meetings with the teacher<\/strong> to talk about their child\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n

LEVELS<\/h3>\n

Our school offers courses for students of all levels, starting from (T1) progressing to higher levels such as First Certificate (FCE).<\/p>\n
